fat transfer, fat injections, fat injection transfer, autologous fat transfer

Fat transfer, fat injections or microlipoinjections are all forms of plastic surgery that transfer excess fat from one body part to another. It has also been named the autologous fat transfer, where autologous means using one’s own tissues or fats. The procedure is used among plastic surgery techniques like lip augmentation, facial fat transfer, fat transfer to the hand, butt augmentation via fat injections, and breast augmentation via fat grafting. The most popular and most up to date procedures that employs the use of microlipoinjections are facial fat transfer and buttock augmentation.

There are three steps to autologous fat transfer, three most basic, at least. First off, fat is liposuctioned gently from either the lower jaw, the buttocks, abdomen or thighs. In this step, a syringe with a large needle or cannula will be employed.

Next, fat harvested will be filtered and processed. A large needle or cannula on a syringe will be employed in this step. The last step is the injection of the fat cells into targeted areas in the face, with the use of a different needle.

Usually, the procedure only requires local anesthesia. The type of fat transfer used will determine if these steps will be followed. This article will discuss two of them.

Facial Fat Transfer
Fat transfer is widely used for repairing facial skin worn out by aging, by filling out emaciated areas with fat fillers, thus removing wrinkles and improving appearance. By far, it has been the most popular alternative to wrinkle treatments.

In facial fat transfer, liposuction is first used to harvest fats that will be used for transfer.

The surgeon will then inject harvested fat into targeted areas in the face. T are areas commonly targeted by microlipoinjection.

Small groups of fat are injected into different layers of the face using a micro injection method.

In lip augmentation, fat is used in place of synthetic facial fillers such as Restylane or other filler materials. The use of local anesthesia is usually employed in these procedures.

Buttock Augmentation through fat injections
Buttock Augmentation through fat injections have become popular for those who have enough fats to spare for their buttocks. The procedure is also called the Brazillian Butt Lift. The main feature of this process is the use of fat fillers. The portion of fat required to be inserted in this operation must only be as large as a pea or a pearl.

Working through tiny incisions in the buttock cheeks, the surgeon gradually places fat cells at dozens in long rows. The filler would only obliterate if the portions will exceed that size because the too large portion of fat cells will encounter difficulty in finding blood supply.

Owing it to the use of the patient’s own body parts, fat transfer looks and feels more natural compared to other filler techniques. There are lower risks of allergic reaction since the filler also came from within the body. Those people who do not consider themselves as candidates for cosmetic surgery even opt for this procedure for physical enhancement. There are relatively less risks of complications and infections in this procedure.
